The United States greatest beer festival and competition

 

Hopworks Urban Brewery recently claimed two gold medals at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival Competition, the largest national beer competition recognizing the most outstanding beers produced in the United States today. The top three winners in the competition’s 78 beer-style categories were announced September 26 at the 28th Annual Great American Beer Festival Awards Ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. 

 

The 2009 Great American Beer Festival Competition winners were selected by an international panel of brewing experts from an impressive field of 3,308 entries received from 495 U.S. breweries. More than 1,400 breweries were invited to compete.  “The Great American Beer Festival is the premier beer competition for the American beer industry,” says Nancy Johnson, Festival Director. “Winning a medal, no matter if gold, silver or bronze, is truly an accomplishment.”

The United States greatest beer festival and competition

 

The Great American Beer Festivalsm (GABF), America’s greatest beer festival and competition, attracted beer lovers from across the world on October 9th, 10th, and 11th. This year’s event, held in Denver, Colorado, had 432 breweries, 60 plus exhibitors and 2,600 volunteers. A total of 46,000 attendees could choose from 2,052 different beers, one ounce at a time, from 432 breweries across the United States. The festival sold out two weeks before the start date and the competition was the largest commercial beer competition ever.

 

The Great American Beer Festival competion, held every year in Denver, CO featured 127 beer judges from 11 different countries who had the task of judging 2902 beers from 472 U.S. breweries competing in 75 beer style categories.  The top three entries in each category won gold, silver and bronze.

World Beer Cup 2008 - View Website

The quality and diversity of beers available around the world prove that brewing excellence knows no borders.

 

This global competition ultimately creates greater consumer awareness about different beer styles and flavor profiles while promoting international brewing excellence. Every two years, a highly qualified professional panel of beer judges honors the top three beers in 70+ categories with gold, silver, and bronze awards. The World Beer Cup, often referred to as "The Olympics of Beer Competition," is the most prestigious beer competition in the world.

 

This year the World Beer Cup was held in San Diego, California. 644 breweries from 58 countries and 45 U.S. states vied for awards with 2,864 beers entered in 91 beer style categories. The top three entries in each category won gold, silver and bronze.

RESERVATIONS

  • We accept reservations Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays all day for parties of 10 or more. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons on a limited basis.

  • We are sorry we cannot accept reservations Thursday through Sunday evenings due to limited seating and volume. On those evenings we operate on a walk-in basis only.
