Christian Ettinger

Christian his began brewing career in his parents kitchen. He received 5 credits for a brewing internship at Oregon Fields Brewery during his senior year at University of Oregon School of Business. After impressing the head brewer at West Brothers Brewery with his kettle scrubbing skills he was soon hired. With three years running West Brothers Brewery under his belt, Christian ventured to Davis, California to complete the Intensive Brewing Science and Engineering course from the American Brewers Guild. A head brewing position with Old World Pub & Brewery soon followed. Old World transitioned into Laurelwood Public House & Brewery where Christian was honored with 2004 World Beer Cup Champion Brewmaster. Christian enjoys traveling the world with Brandie, his wife of ten years, and can say with certainty that his 2 year old son Julian was conceived after a great evening at U Fleku in Prague. Cycling, snowboarding and backpacking are means to the perfect pint!

Ben Love

Ben is an Oregon native. His passion for beer started with a pint at the Horse Brass Pub and a short stint at Belmont Station in 1999.  His brewing career began in Appleton, WI at the now defunct Adler Brau Brewery, where he offered to work for free (but they paid him anyway).  He worked part-time washing kegs, tanks and doing odd jobs as the Brewers Assistant.  At the same time he started the Intensive Brewing Science and Engineering Course through the American Brewers Guild.

In a bid to return to Oregon, he applied for the Assistant Brewer position at the Pelican Pub & Brewery where he worked for three years.  During that time the brewery continued a tradition and won multiple honors including Large Brewpub of the Year (2006) and Small Brewpub of the Year (2005) at the Great American Beer Festival, and Champion International Brewery (2005) and the Grand Champion Beer Trophy (2004 & 2005) at the Australian International Beer Awards.

Wanting to join his beautiful fiancée in Portland he hounded Christian for a job. Ben is director of the Oregon Cask Ale Festival, sits on the board of the Oregon Brewers Guild and helps organize the Brewers Summer Games.  In his spare time he likes homebrewing, concerts, hiking, and brunch.
