We are fortunate to live and work in the Pacific Northwest where we have an abundance of clean, clear and delicious water. We brew our beer with some of the best, naturally soft water in the world piped directly from the rain-fed Bull Run Reservoir at the base of Mount Hood.
Through brewery design, team training, tracking and monitoring, and investments in equipment, we will continue to make every effort to conserve and protect this vital resource.
Hopworks purchases Water Restoration Credits (WRC) through Bonneville Environmental Foundation to offset our remaining water footprint, supporting over 3 million gallons of water restored to critically dewatered rivers and streams. Our WRC's focus on supporting interventions in the Middle Deschutes River to return freshwater systems to their natural function, providing cleaner, more abundant water, and improving habitat in meadows, wetlands, and rivers.
● Both HUB brewery sites are Salmon-Safe certified. Our landscape plan eliminates synthetic fertilizers and pesticides and features drought-tolerant native landscaping to dramatically reduce irrigation requirements.
● All bathrooms have low-fill urinals, water-efficient toilets, and low-flow aerators in the faucets
● Dishwashers have water-saving pre-rinse nozzles
● Permeable pavers and bioswales manage stormwater onsite
● Flow meters to track and training to control water usage
● CIP skid used to clean tanks reuses detergent multiple times and salvages rinse water for reuse
● Brewery centrifuge spins to extract 4% more beer from the tanks that would normally go down the drain
● The canning process recycles the interior can rinse water to reuse as exterior can use water, reducing the water usage by half
● Water only offered to guests upon request, and unused water is collected and used to water plants
